Big Rig and Car Accident Kills Two Women

I read an article today that showed the damage that a big rig can cause when colliding with a car. The report stated that two women were attempting to pass another car, when the driver lost control. Their car slid out and ended up colliding front-first into a semi-truck. The two women were killed instantly. The driver of the big rig suffered only minor injuries.

It is incredible that in an accident, two people can die instantly while the other leaves the scene with only cuts and bruises. However, this is often the case in an accident involving a big rig and a car. The weight and size of the big rig is totally devastating to a car upon impact. In addition, it takes much more time for a semi to come to a complete stop, so if a car is suddenly in it’s way, it is more likely than not that the big rig will run into it.

If you or someone you love have been injured in a collision with a big rig, you will need legal advice and assistance. Please call the Law Office of Moseley Collins, I am here to help.

Southern California Car and Big Rig Accident

A man from Southern California was killed in an accident involving the collision of a big rig with his car. The accident occurred on Highway 101, while the man was driving to work. Police reports show that the driver of the big rig stated he was slowing down with the flow of traffic when the car, a Mercedes Benz, cut in front of him. Without adequate time to stop, the big rig rear-ended the Mercedes, killing the man inside.

Accidents involving large trucks such as this are often times fatal. The weight and size of the truck, averaging 80,000 lbs. and 70 feet long, place the car involved in the accident at an extreme disadvantage. According to the NHTSA, 5,000 people driving small cars are killed each year and another 140,000 are injured in big rig accidents. On the other side of the equation, only 600 big rig drivers are killed each year in car accidents and 30,000 injured.

Large Truck and Car Collision in Northern California

Just south of our Sacramento home, a tremendous accident occurred between a big rig and a car early this morning in Concord, California. As a lawyer in Sacramento, I know how dangerous a collision of this type can be for the parties involved.

Reports are still scattered, but police say that the car and big rig crushed the median in the crash, spilling diesel fuel and setting the big rig’s engine on fire. The fire eventually encompassed the entire trailer.

There are no reports yet of injuries sustained by the people involved in the collision.

Accidents involving large trucks, usually referred to as big rigs, have serious implications. The mere size and weight of these trucks is so much greater than that of a normal passenger car that injuries are usually much more severe.
